Nurse Nuts: Nursing Education in a Nutshell

Tracy Swetokos, MSN, RN, CEN

A 25 year veteran nurse, Tracy has spent the last 15 years teaching ER nursing and leadership courses, as well as working as at the bedside. She has taught hundreds of nurses how to prepare to successfully pass nursing certifications, including the Certified Emergency Nursing (CEN) exam. She led an entire department to 100% certification and has coached many nurses through studying and test taking techniques to pass the test. With their lifestyle change to sailing, she has now taken that program to an online format to continue teaching. Designed for the busy nurse, the goal of Nurse Nuts is to deliver essential knowledge in short segments to support learning. Review questions help validate knowledge as the learner moves through the modules. Check out the CEN review she has developed!

She also helped hundreds of new graduate nurses transition into the emergency nursing field and enjoys mentoring and coaching new nurses to make that a successful transition. She developed a program that provided support and mentorship to reduce turnover and decrease the stress of moving into this fast-paced field of nursing.

Tracy is also an instructor and course director for the Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). She was a member of the ENA work team that revised the ENPC course and editor for the 5th edition text. She spent 3 years in the corporate world, helping to develop ER charge nurses and directors, teaching leadership classes and developing evidence-based practice programs for quality patient care.

Now she brings that expertise to you through Nurse Nuts.
